培养系统掌握地理学的基本知识、基本理论与研究方法，懂得现代教育基本理论与技巧，能熟练运用遥感、地理信息系统等现代地理学研究手段，了解本学科的最新发展，能从事地理教学的教师，特别是中学地理教师；培养高素质的地理研究者和地理工作者，并为研究生教育提供优质生源。

Students in this specialty should understand the basic knowledge, theories and investigating methods in geography, and the basic theories and skills in education, be able to use the advanced techniques in remote sensing and geographic information system, know the recent advances in this subject, and be competent for engaging in education and scientific research, and become the special talents with the quality for taking up advanced studies.

掌握马列主义、毛泽东思想和邓小平理论的基本原理，树立科学的世界观和为人民服务的人生观，热爱社会主义祖国，努力为我国现代化建设服务。具有艰苦奋斗、热爱劳动、遵纪守法、团结合作的精神和良好的社会公德。

具有一定的体育和军事基本知识，养成良好的体育锻炼和卫生习惯，达到老员工体育和军训合格标准，具有健康的体魄。

本 专业要求掌握地理科学所需数、理、化及计算机等相关学科的基本理论、知识和技能；系统地掌握地理科学的基本理论、知识和技能，受到良好的科学思维与科学实 验（包括野外与室内实验）的训练；了解地理科学的前沿问题、应用前景和发展动态；了解资源环境与城乡规划管理、地理信息系统的一般原理和方法；掌握资料查 询、文献检索及运用现代信息技术获取有关信息的方法；熟练掌握一门外语。

The students should understand the essential principles of Marxism and Leninism, Mao Zedong thoughts and Deng Xiaoping theories, adopt the scientific outlook on world and the idea of serving the people, love the socialistic motherland, strive for the national construction of modernization, and possess of the spirits and social morality of working hard, loving labor, observing disciplines and obeying the laws, and the unity and cooperation.

Students should possess the knowledge of physical and military education, form a good habit in physical exercise and personal health.

Students in this specialty are required to understand the theory, knowledge and skills in science of geography and its necessary correlative subjects, such as the mathematics, physics, chemistry and computer sciences, etc, be well-trained in scientific thinking and experiments, including field research and indoor work, follow the issues in the research frontiers,prospects, and trends in science of geography, possess the general methods and principles in urban and rural planning & resources management, and geographic information systems, master the methods of literature searching and collection, informationacquisitionwith modern information technology, and master a foreign language skillfully.
